What's Ready To Blossom in Your Life?

During the changing tides of life, throughout the pandemic and beyond, the human mind can get the best of us and we may feel deep emotional stress, pain, anxiety, or overwhelm.

When this happens in our home, we allow these feelings to unfold and offer support, but we also encourage each other to let it be a “bad hour” and not an entirely bad day or week. We all need to feel fully SEEN - body, mind and spirit. The “bad hour” gives us each permission to express ourselves freely, and then in my experience, it feels good to move back into the day, with less weighing us down.

Recently, I was having a hard time moving back into my day after some intense emotions of overwhelm and grief came over me. I was reminded by my loving partner to make it a “bad hour." I gratefully accepted, processed through my feelings, and it made all the difference in my day.

During my "bad hours," I usually come back to my breath, put my pen to the page, or bring awareness to my body through movement/yoga. Breathing, creative space, and mindful movement all help to guide me through emotionally challenging times.

On this tough day, I just needed a gentle reminder to slow down and care for myself. I stepped away from my responsibilites, sat quietly to breathe, received hugs from my family, and spoke a few words about my pain. Only then, did the emotions move through me, rather quickly and with ease. Only then, was I able to release a bit of the past. I felt seen. It's that simple. After this experience, I was able to be so much more present, relaxed and patient with my family, and myself. I bounced back (key to resilience)!

It’s amazing how giving yourself the space to feel and heal can help you grow become highly resilient. I know this truth, but even I need to be reminded once in awhile. I am forever discovering the incredible power of rest, self care, and real self love. Every hour is an opportunity to bloom again. Never give up on yourself. We all need a break, before we have a break through. You are not alone.

“Our soul is like a soft and gentle flower, it needs to be nurtured, cared for, tended to, with sufficient sunlight, fresh air and freedom to bloom into its most precious and beautiful form. This, my friend, is self-love.”― Miya Yamanouchi
